I’ve always had a thing for cars. I remember vividly riding around in my uncle’s 72 Dodge Charger SE, colored “Crazy Plum Purple” as a child and I remember asking my parents to get me a 69 Chevy Chevelle SS. It wasn’t until a few months ago that I found myself wanting to watch F1 Racing and it was even to my own surprise, being that I absolutely had no clue why anyone would want to watch car’s driving around any track what so ever. I still don’t quite understand Nascar, nor do I think I would ever care to. My current reasoning for my F1 fueled obsession is the technology behind these incredible machines. It’s basically like riding a jet engine with a seat mounted right in between the engines intakes at incredible speeds.
Needless to say, when I came upon this video, I immediately fell deeper into this obsession.
The quality is outstanding and it’s understandable when you realize it was shot with RED Cinema video cameras, Canon SLR’s and 35mm high clarity lenses.

The IOGraph software bundle was formerly known as MousePath and it’s always great to see experimental products keep steam. Created by Anatoly Zenkov, a designer in Moscow Russia and accompanied by his partner Andrey Shipilov, the application first gained interest through postings on Flickr.
This application captures your mouse movements over your work day and creates an art work to give you a little satisfaction.

Matthew Young had a chance to create anything he wanted for his university final project. Most kids take the easy way out in such open invitations. Although this very well could be easy for Matthew as a designer and even a producer, he decided to create a book publishing company.
Many people might argue against such a project being that it consists in the print medium, but Matthew was able to take advantage of the situation and create something engaging. According to Young, his book publishing company has a focus on unique materials as well as design.
Here is an advertisement he created to promote the company.

Every so often, I’ll catch a video that allows a viewer to take a glimpse behind the scenes of a particular subject. These videos are what bring an artists life into full perspective & opportunities like this allow for the artist to share his/her way of working, as well as an idea of the conception process.
Niels Meulman gives us a glimpse into his world of Calligraffiti as he calls it, through a video short by Nalden. The video is personable, clear and colorful, with Niel providing us all with a little inspiration. As Nalden’s description states, “Meulman is an internationally known artist, graphic designer, and art director from Amsterdam. Shoe revolutionized the art of writing with Calligraffiti, an art form that fuses calligraphy and graffiti.”

This is among one of the best movie trailers that I have seen in a very long time. I haven’t tracked down a great deal of information based on this preview, but it’s known that Romain Gavras directed this upcoming motion picture which stars Vincent Cassel & Olivier Barthelemy. You may know Romain from his tension based music video for Justice, called Stress, or his incredibly controversial video for M.I.A. called Born Free. It’s actually quite interesting, if you search for information on Romain, there is very little to be found other than the fact that he’s French. Keep it coming Romain. Keep it coming.

Every designer has a list or collection of items that truly keep them motivated and inspired. A lot of my personal work tends to be minimal in how its conceptualized, most likely due to the fact that I try to follow Swiss driven design. I do however have a love for vibrant colors. My way of producing is usually based around the principle of “less is more” and to create impact, colors are usually the perfect solution. When co-workers whom usually lack any sense of design ask for something to be “bigger”, I usually resend the same treatment in terms of size, but change the color accordingly.
This photo is something that I picked off of the web. I don’t quite know where it was taken, or what it truly is, but I find it inspiring and I frequently view it to give myself a little boost.

To kick off our new blog, we figured there really wasn’t a better way to start off a first post than with some Pantone love. With the fall of print in a larger picture, Pantone seems to have continued it’s death grip on the graphic design industry. There is still something to be said about Pantone as a company as well as the boxset products that they have come out of the wood work with. In one word, Classic.
